Lindsey Black's obituary appeared in the "Waynesburg Republican" of Waynesburg, Greene County, PA on Thursday, February 25, 1932.
Lindsey I. Black, aged 92 years, and a veteran of the Civil war, died at his home in Franklin township, Sunday, February 21, of heart trouble. Mr. Black had been a resident of Greene county all of his life. He was a son of Griffith and Polly Stewart Black. During the Civil war he served in Company G, 85th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, and was a member of the McCullough Post G. A. R. Mr. Black was twice married. His first wife was Jane Cumley and after her death he married Jane Wright. He leaves the following children: Mrs. Effie Corbin, Holloway, O.; Mrs. Mary Anderson, Lancaster, O.; Mrs. Simon Tennant, Ten Mile; Mrs. Wylle Farabee, Waynesburg, and Mrs. William Yeager, Washington. Three sons and four daughters are deceased. He also leaves 40 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, in the Hoge and Garrison Funeral Home, East High street, conducted by the Rev. Samuel Spencer, pastor of the Morrisville M. P. Church. Interment in Green Mount cemetery.
