Good work! Thanks for the will. I have it in Maine will volumes. Actually I have a bunch of Maine references. I am sure you do also. Yes, I knew the Harpswell connection. There would be no mention of my Sarah Black who married George Patch in the will because she was not born until about 1762. I am presuming that her siblings Henry and Olive were probably born about the same time. Olive Black of Kittery married James Whiteham (Witham) of Harpswell 9 Dec 1783. She was still living in 1814 but I think was gone by 1820 because I cannot find her. On the very same day Josiah Black of Harpswell married Mary Patch of Kittery. I think Mary Patch was the sister of George Patch who married Olive's known sister Sarah Black. I also think that Josiah Black was a sibling of Sarah, Olive and Henry Black bur was gone by 1814. Does this ring any bell? Or are you totally confused? I know I am!
Was it Will's grandson, your William, who came back to Kittery? Or was it one of Will's sons who returned? I know they were considered "squatters" and one came back to Kittery. Let me ask you a question. You have a photo of Charles. Does he have any black features? They always called my great grandfather Josiah Patch of Kittery an "Indian".
I will note your email address. Where are you? I am in North Sandwich, NH Thanks, Cheryl! I will print out your information. Maybe we can make a connection!
