I am a descendant of Joseph M Black (1829 AL-1883 Anderson Co. TX) who was a brother to Wm. F. Black, who was the father of "Columbus" (William Columbus H).WCH was with his parents in the 1850 Census [1850 LA, Bossier Parish, Twp 19, Ward 4, HH #1295/1295 Black, William H/F34 Planter 12000 b KY , Rhoda27TN , William CH2LA] And the 1860 Census [1860 Census Bossier Parish LA, Minden P.O., Dwl 186, Fam 186--25 Jul 1860 Black, W. F.41 M Widower $21,000(?) $15,074(?) b KY[b 1819?] Black, WCH11 mb LA/in school (in b 1849) Black, John B 9 mb LA/in school Black, E.B.6 mb LA (Alonzo Byron b1854) Black, M.A.2 fb LA(Mary Ann) So I am sure that Columbus is a son of WF Black
As to Cynthia Campbell, I would LOVE to find her married to AG Campbell's dter, Cynthia born ~1846-7.And it would surely be a possibility/likelihood (Joseph M Black's dtr. Mary Elizabeth married John Campbell,AG Campbell's son, so the families were in association with one another in Anderson Co. TX.) Wm F.'s children (John B, Alonzo & Mary Ann) are with the Anderson Co. Blacks in 1870. Columbus _may_ be there too, with another family, I haven't identified him. I think all WmF's children came to Texas in 1863: Wm F Black died 13 Mar 1863 in Bossier Parish. His brother, Tom Black, had the probate proceedings moved to Anderson Co. TX since there was no family living in LA, he told the court.
I am glad to share any more information about the family.Write me privately if you wish. I have more to tell. Linda M Sykes
