Another interesting tidbit is Jacob's obit stated that his wife, Olla, died in 1902, whether that is true remains to be learned:

Another story of domestic difficulties was told to the officers here last Friday.A Mrs. Smith who was twelve years ago a Miss Ollie Chriswell, daughter of William Chriswell, of near Olcott, claimed her husband was a kidnapper. After their marriage in this county they went to Illinois to live. They finally fell into trouble and agreed to disagree and separate. The father was to take one child, the boy, while the mother was to take the little girl. She started with the little girl for Kanass [sic], after they had signed articles of agreement to his tkind [sic] of an arrangetnm [sic].But Mrs. Smith claims her husband followed her up, went out to her father's place and finally secured possession of the little girl which he took away with him.She was here endeavoring to get recourse against him.
