Jack Sorry I cannot help on the Templeton line. I cannot find any connection with my Black line and the David Black who settled on Elk Shoal Creek. My earliest known ancestor, William Black, originally settled in Mecklenburg (now Cabarrus county) NC and moved to Iredell county about 1790. He died a few years later in Richmond, Virginia, returning from Pennsylvania on a business trip (according to the author of an early history of Poplar Tent Church of Cabarrus county. This history was published in the the 1870's. I have always thought that there could be a connection with my William and David Black, but could never find one. There was a book done on the Templeton family a few years ago and covered the Templetons of Iredell county. You have probably seen this. I think the author was a Mr. Norwalk. He did it for John Templeton (Templeton Mutual Fund).
Sorry I cannot be of any help. If you ever locate a male descendent of David Black I would certainly like to know. I have had DNA testing done and I would love to have a descendent of David Black to be tested. I would pay for the test.
