Re: Blackbird Family Name
We MUST be related in some way as there are very few Blackbirds and they are all from the N.E. of England.
My Mother was born a Blackbird. I`ll give you a run down of my side of the family:-
My Grandad, William Norvell Blackbird, was born in 1907 in Swalwell, Co Durham.
His father, Edward Errington Blackbird, 1882-1921, born in Swalwell.
His father, William Blackbird, born in Swalwell,1841-1913, was married twice and had quite a few children (some of their names are Jane, Elizabeth, Sarah Ann, William, Thomas Edward and Matthew, which might ring some bells as the same names are used generation to generation)
His father, Matthew Blackbird 1797-1857 born in Tanfield, Co Durham (also had a few children - William, Alice, Mary,Isabella,Elizabeth, Jane, Edward and William.)
His father, William Blackbird, 1775-1837, born Tanfield. (children- Matthew, Jane,Mary,John,Elizabeth and William)
His father, Matthew Blackbird 1731-1782 (children- William, John, George, Mary and Jane)
Do you have any idea whereabouts in the North East your Dad was from? Or what his Dad`s name was? The Blackbirds are quite easy to research as there are so few of them.
