John and Mary Blagg Welch (Welsh, Welsch)
Old secondary sources, like Morton's History of Highland County, assert that one of the children of William Blagg of Doe Hill was Mary, who married John Welch and moved to Ohio.
A John Welch of the right age range is found in Pendleton County in the 1820 and 1830 census, but he disappears after that (except, of course, that there are many John Welches in Virginia and Ohio from then on, many married to a Mary.
Is there a single shred of primary evidence to support Mary as the daughter of William, and her marriage to John Welch? All the websites, files, and printed county and state histories pass this story along, with alternative spellings "Welsch" and "Welsh".
Is this a gap in Blagg genealogy that will never be closed?
