John:I am a descendent of Captain John Blakeney through his son John Jr and 2nd wife, Nancy May.I live within a few miles of Capt. John's burial monument (and I assume his burial site) near Pageland, SC.
I am a member of Zoar United Methodist Church and have a copy of a deed which I obtained from the Chesterfield County SC Deed Office (Bk 60, Pg 26) where John Blakeney Snr deeded 50.5 acres of land to Hugh Blakeney, Lewis Blakeney, Nathan Funderburk, Asa Waters, Arch'd Laney, ABel Funderburg, Calvin Laney, John Lench, and Samuel Thompson, Trustees in Trust "that they shall erect and build ono cause to be erected and bilt thereon a house or place of worship for the use of the members of the Methodist Episcopal Church (Zoar's predecessor). This deed is very clearly dated September 26, 1836, and is signed by John L Miller, "a Justice of the Peace for said Distict and made oath that he was present and saw John Blakeney Snr sign, seal, and deliver this instrument", but does not state WHEN he saw Capt John execute the document.Capt. John's monument shows that he died in 1832.
Do you have any information about this?
I look foward to reading your Newsletter.
