My Blaneys are from Co. Antrim Ireland (catholic) and I have traced them bacl as far as 1805.Am working on going back further as they probably came over from Scotland according to family belief in Ireland.Though they may have been in Ireland before Scotland.I believe that was most probable.The predominent name is Henry Blaney passed down for generations.My father was also a Henry.

Could you give me some more info. on your grandmother Blaney so that I can see if there is a connection?Also do you know if the family in Ireland was catholic or Presbyterian?It helps in the chase.
