Greetings:

I just started the quest to find info on my family in Ireland. Two years ago we visited Ireland and stopped by Castleblayney in county Monaghan. We checked out both the Church of Ireland and the Catholic Church's gravyards for Blaneys and Blayneys.None there except for a grave for one of the Lord Blayneys.

We asked around town to find out if there were any Blaneys in the area. The answer from several kind people was exactly the same. "Ooh! There are no Blaneys in Castleblayney, they all moved to Donegal years (200) ago".Strange, my family is from Cullybackey, Antrim in Northern Ireland.

If you want a history on the Blayney Family I can E-Mail it to you.I got it from the Archives in Belfast.Don't know if the two versions of the name are actually related or not of if some just dropped the "Y".
