Name: John S BLAYNEY
Sex: M
Birth: 23 SEP 1860 in Omagh, County Tyrone, Northen Ireland
Occupation: Farmer, Iowa & Nebraska
Note:
While farming in Nebraska John was out plowing with a team of horses, he always carried a shot gun with him when in the field to shoot Prairie Dogs. The plow struck a rock and threw John and the gun to the ground, the gun went off and hit him in the left elbow. A neighbor hauled him 80 miles in a wagon to a doctor, his arm had to be amputated. John lived past 90 years of age. His wife Lillian died of TB.
The Blayney family immigrated from Ireland in about 1872, they came to Zearing, Story Co., Iowa
Children John and Verver ( Mack ) were raised by there grandparents, Levi and Marie Blayney Scott. Both died in there 50s. Note: I found the boys with them in the 1920 census at ages 9 and 7.
As told too me by Forrest Rasmusson, Navada, Iowa, by email, Nov. 10, 2005, the grandson of Levi and Marie.
