Re: Thomas Bliss m. Margaret Hulins
Just a note of warning on the Bliss Book by Hoppin - the information that he gives for my branch of the Gloucestershire Bliss family is wrong. He claims the descent for Thomas Bliss of Chipping Norton (1736-1796) is: son of Edward Bliss (1707-?)and Mary Smart [correct]and the grandson of Thomas Bliss (1623-?) and Hannah Stevens[incorrect]. Edward born 1707 CANNOT have been the son of Thomas born 1623. Thomas would have been 83 when Edward was born - possible but unlikely and impossible if Hannah his wife was a similar age. They had been married for 43 years by the time Edward was born! I have yet to find (and prove) the father of Edward but his birth record shows him to be the son of 'Thomas of Minchinhampton', not 'Thomas of Bisley'.
