Looking for info on Civil War veteran George Blotcher, who served with Company E of the 87th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry.The regiment mustered in York in September 1861.
Blotcher, George, Sgt Co E; mustered Sep 13, 1861, as a volunteer; discharged June 29, 1865; born Feb 29, 1836, in Wurttemburg, Germany, into a alcoholic, dysfunctional family and came to America on his own as a teenager; died Aug 24, 1924, in either Middletown or Falmouth, Pennsylvania; lived in Goldsboro, York County when he enlisted; laborer; 5' 4", dark hair, hazel eyes; married Sarah Welcomer February 13, 1859; daughter, Emma Jane (another daughter died); lived in Falmouth, Lancaster County for twenty years after the war; brothers-in-law Alexander Nauss and Henry Welcomer also served with the regiment
