Re: Bobee-Santo Domingo

I am searching for informationfor Jacques Louis Beaubet ( Bobee is one of the various spelling) of France who came to the united states aboard the ship La Magnifique in the 17oo's.He left a family in France and cohabitated with Susan Butcher ( one census list her birthplace as Maryland ). I anearly 1800 census she is listed as a free black head of household in Jefferson county Mississippi. Legend says she is of mixed race and possibly indian. I would be interested in sharing information I have on this ancestor.It is mpossible there is a connection as the names are so similar. Beaubet is pronounced Bobee.
