Seeing your post on the Bobee forum, wondering if there could possibly be a link of your Bobee and my Beaube (Beaubet)? My ggg-grandfather was Jacques Louis Beaube (Beaubet in France) who was born 10/31/1749 in Cherbourg, France. He came to America in as a mercenary soldier in the Revolutionary War.He obviously made some trips back to France according to his military records, but finally settled in southwest MS where he cohabitated with Susan Butcher who was reportedly a Choctaw Indian. She does appear in the 1850 Census of Jefferson County, MS as a "M" race (mixed race). Some records have also reported her as a "Free Woman of Color."
According to data provided by a relative, there was a Auguste Felix Beaubet, born in Cherbourg on Sept. 30, 1786.Could this be your Felix since the English pronunciation of Beaubet is BOBEE or Bobie?
Would like to correspond.
Bill
