I am also researching the Bosse family and have some information on your Bernhardt Bosse, living in Baltimore.
Bernhardt Bosse born August 10, 1827 in Birkenreid Prussia, married Anna Elizabeth Schneider ( born May 30, 1830 in Darmstadt, Germany) on July 24, 1849 in Baltimore, MD
Children: John Bosse (Oct 4, 1852), Mary Barbara (May 17, 1850) both born in Baltimore. In 1856 there is an Mary Elizabeth born in Clifton Ohio, so he must have moved sometime before 1856. There are also 5 more children ---Margaretha, George F., Bernard John, Francis X. and Anna. He died in Goshen Ind. April 10, 1900. There is a listing in the 1855 Baltimore City directory for a Bernhardt Bosse living at 153 S. Eden St.--I don't know if this is your guy or not. If you go to Family Search.com you can find him in the 1880 census as Benhart Bosse, living in Goshen, Elkhart, Indiana.
Now for Anton Bosse----his occupation is listed as a cooper in the 1864 & 65 Baltimore City Directory, and also as proprieter of a lager beer salon at 59 S. Wolfe St.
He married twice, his first wife, Mary, died in 1877 and he must have married a widow because we find him in the 1880 census with Elizabeth as his wife---there is also a stepdaughter, Anna Tewes who must be the child of Elizabeth by her previous marriage.
Our relative is George William Bosse, born in Prussia Nov.1841 or 1842,he immigrated when he was about 3 yrs. old, about 1844 or 1845.(this would fit with your immigration pattern)
In the 1880 census his occupation is also listed as a cooper. ( We have an old cooper's tool with the letter A, scratched in the handle, could it stand for Anton? )
In the 1890 Baltimore City Directory there is an Elizabeth Bosse listed as proprietres of a liquor business, living at 1747 E. Lombard St. Our George William is found in this same directory living at 2031 E. Lombard St. ---three blocks away.
I really wish that we could connect these individuals. There must have been a connection for you to have the obit. notice, I only wish that the family had more info. on George W. because I would love to find his parents!
