Ronnie, Did you ever figure out if this was OUR G.W. Bostain? I know he had a homestead land in AR. As to why he didntstay after the 7 years, i dont know...maybe he used all the lumber he wanted off it with his sawmill becauseon that 8th year the sawmill is gone and someone else owns the land that G.W. had.
... In the back of my mind i want to say that he 'gave it up- back to the goverment' due to the fact that he delt in lumber/trees and had used it all up on this land (could it have been lumber for the cole mines or R/R in the area) and maybe the place in Texas was a HOME place.... to go when they had down time in work??? (ok, just a guess)
Remember we havent found George's or Margrette's grave. But if i had to be a betting person i would bet they are around Sugarloaf, AR - where he had his saw mill- Thats where they raised most of the kids. But of course the only child im interested in is Henry Robert Bostain. He was the baby DOB 1892 (but gives no location)
Here is the dirty dirt i have on this part..... MY Mother remembers as a small child that her G-father Henry would bring a small GIRL around (she thought her name was Debbie) for a very short visit, really not long enought to play or get aquanited with her because if Henrys wife (Moms G-Grandmother) would have found out hell would have been paid! LOL. She WAS the one who rulled the roost, heck lets give her her credit,,SHE ruled the barn!!!
Mom said through the years she heard the namy JANE attached to Henry and assumed this Debbie chid also. Could this have been a early wife? I did find a Henry and a Mary married in Crowford CO, AR in 1901 but its as if they vanished!!! i cant find anything. Then in 1906 he marries my G-G- Grandmother..
Of course you have become my go-to guy and if i get lucky enough to pick your brain I do try to use up everything I have. Jokeing aside, i really, really do value what you have to say.
Thanks a Lot, Tresea Bostain /Tinsley
