Riggs Bostick(b. 1871) shot Walter Bynum, did he survive?

My great-grandfather Riggs Bostick born in 1871 of Reubin Bostick and Sarah J. Riggs of Palmersville TN moved to Kentucky and eventually Illinois(where my grandmother Marie Bostic was born) after shooting Walter Bynum in the left side and lung:

Does anyone know any details of this story and did Walter Bynum survive?
