Subject: SALLIE ROPER a/k/a SALLIE CADWELL

Posted by: Tracey Hiatt

Message: Hi Bill! I was going through some papers from my husband's family and came across a genealogy of the Roper Family back to 1700. Your names caught my eye. Here is what I have:

Sallie's parents: Unknown female Roper to a Mr. Cadwell "a worthless man".

Sallie's grandfather: James C. Roper

Sallie's brother: James Roper (a/k/a Cadwell)

Story as follows: Daughter of James C. Roper (Sallie's Mom) married this "worthless" Cadwell. James C. Roper had the legislature change Sallie and James' last name back to Roper on account of their father Cadwell being worthless (AMAZING!).

As you say, Sallie married Tristan Bostwick of the Mountain Creek country. They had several sons, but only two lived to year of maturity: Thomas, who married a Capell, and James, who married a Mason.

I have quite a bit of information in this genealogy re: where they lived, moved from, married, etc.

Let me know if you want any information - or anyone else who reads this for that matter.
