New to Bott Family research

Hello, my mother is a Bott. Her father was Ian Herbert Bott. His father was Owen Herbert Bott. It has been rumored that my great grandfather had two families (at the same time) and from what I can find through birth records in Canada it appears to be true.We, however, have had no contact with that side of the family nor do we really have any contact outside the imediate family. At one point Owen lived in Medicine Hat Canada and moved to Nevada Hawthorne to be exact.I am new to this so any information on family connectins would be appreciated.
