Joel Bott & wife Lucy May and what little I know...
Joel Bott married Lucy May in Halifax Co., VA. I think the date of their marriage bond, not the actual marriage, was April 5, 1786. A bond was posted by George Carrington, & witnesses were Agnes Cocke and Samuel Annat(?). Permission for Lucy to marry was granted by Lucy May (herself or another person w/same name?) and Agnes May, who I think is Lucy's mother.
On June 17, 1786 in Halifax Co., VA, Agness May of Halifax Co. buys abt 350 acres of land known as "The Crossroads" from Thomas Hope. I assume Agness is a widow by this date. Witnesses to this deed are John Lewis, William McCraw, James McCraw, Samuel McCraw, John Williams, William Thompson, Sr., James Stevens, Jas. Taylor, Joel Bott, Joseph Hayns (Dr. Joseph Haynes), Saml Annat (who also witnessed marriage of Joel Bott & Lucy May) Halifax Deed Book 13, pg 494.
On Nov 7, 1789, Agness May of Halifax Co. sells this Crossroads land to John Cathcart of Petersburgh for 75 Pounds in money & 500 acres of land on the Ohio River, 50 or 60 miles below Fort Pitt (Pittsburgh). This deed witnessed by Joel Bott, Henry Covington, Lucy Piett(?), Thomas Covington. Halifax Deed Book 14, pg 640.
So I don't know if they all moved to this land on the Ohio River or what, but if it's 50-60 miles down-stream from Pittsburgh, maybe that puts you in what's now Ohio, I haven't looked at a map to see.
I'm not listing who were adjoining landowners at the Crossroads, although that might tell something.
