Botts Surname DNA Project at ftDNA

By Mike Botts March 18, 2011 at 10:19:41

We have just begun a new Botts Surname DNA Project at ftDNA.com and WorldFamilies.net. The goal of this project is to make connections between the various Botts lineages in the US and to extend those connections across the oceans to our homelands. The project utilizes but traditional genealogy and DNA testing to establish the Botts Patriarch lines. We are most interested in males who have the Botts surname (or any variants such as Bott, Botz, Botte, etc.) and are willing to provide Y-DNA results to the project. If you haven't been tested yet (a simple swabbing on the cheek tissue), then you can purchase tests at the Botts Surname Project at reduced rates (testing done by Family Tree DNA (ftDNA). y-DNA tests age from $99 - $149 depending on the number of DNA markers you want.

We also welcome others who may not have the Botts surname but are interested in participating through providing lineages. Also, we would like to gather mtDNA results from Botts patriarchs as well as the mothers and sisters of patriarchs if available.

Come help us grow this project and get to know other Botts family members in the US and around the world. Visit the site http://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Bottshttp://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Botts for more information or visit the project site http://http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/bottshttp://http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/botts. While waiting for your DNA results, or if you just want to participate without testing, help up build the Patriarch and Matriarch pedigrees so that we can begin to relate these to the DNA results as they arrive.

Thanks.
Mike Botts
