News from UK BOUTONS
JANET BOUTON 4/23/01
I've finally reviewed what I have on the ancient BOUTONS, as I call them, and it isn't much more than I posted. If you e-mail me privately,, I'll e-mail back all related messages. In the meantime, the most promising clues seem to me to be the message from David Charles Boughton stating re: the many BOUTONS by all spellings in Norfolk and Suffolk in the 17th and 18th c., and that he is researching the parish Records of Pulham St. Mary Magdelene in Norfolk where, he says, "the vicar and Churchwardens produced a different spelling of (the) surname every few years."I think those records would be key. ALso, since he says there was a steady stream of villagers leaving from thew 1600s on, it might be possible to search out their most frequent destinations. Also, note the messaes from Marshall Boughton and others on the BOUGHTON board re: the possibility that the boughtons were from Warwickshire. Finally, it would be ood to see what records of the Assurance exist on te other side of the pond. GOOD LUCK!! I'll go over later and pick up where you left off!
