William Bowden Granville Co. NC.
An objective of some researchers is that their Bowden family come from this William Bowden whom left his LW&T dated 1774 in Granville Co. NC.
This William whom died 1773 had a son named Travis Bowden, a son named John Bowden, and a son named William Bowden, with others.
The son named William Bowden died while living with his son, Pleasant Bowden in Conecuh Co. Ala. The date of this death is written as 1821.
In 1834 a long series of court cases occurred in Richmond and Randolph Counties in North Carolina against John Bowden and the Heirs of William Bowden of Conecuh Co. Ala.
These court proceeding where soon removed to Randolph County, where most of the Heirs lived.
During the monthly court hearings the names of this William Bowden's children were attested to by many witnesses. Some of those mentioned were Travis Bowden, James Bowden, Josiah Bowden, Pleasant Bowden, wife of Gideon Macon, wife of John Macon, and wife of Isaac Odell.
There is also a page that tells of W. B. Odell as being the son of James Odell and he was son of Isaac Odell and Martha Bowden, daughter of William Bowden.
Most researchers tell that this William Bowden was not from Granville County and that a William Bowden of Surry Co. NC. that died 1834 in Maury Co. Tn., was the person whom came form Granville County.
Please take NOTE that William Bowden whom died 1821 in Conecuh Co. Ala. had a son named Travis Bowden and that this William Bowden also had a Uncle that also was named Travis Bowden, and that it was either their mother or grandmother that was named Travis.
