Re: Thomas Bowdre Exr. to estate of Joseph Cooper 1828, GA
Hello...thanks for the posting information.I know of no relationship between the Cooper family and the Bowdre family. One of Thomas Bowdre's daughters, Martha Penelope, married a Amos J. Persons 1831 Columbia Co. GA.(I noticed a person surname Persons was also listed in the document you posted.)
Thomas Bowdre was born 1777 in VA and died 1846 in Columbia co. GA, in a part that is now McDuffie Co. GA, outside Thomson GA.Thomas Bowdre is a brother to my ggg-Grandfather, Samuel Bowdre. The Bowdre clan was in Columbia and Richmond counties in the late 1700's and 1800's.Thomas Bowdre was a planter of considerable means and the son of Elisha & Emily Bowdre. The house that Thomas Bowdre built in 1804 and died in is stiIl standing in the countryside outside Thomson GA and in the vicinity of old Wrightsborough GA. Thinking that possibly the execcutor of a man's will would also be a neighbor, this gives you an idea of the locale.I have no knowledge of where the Bowdre's came to the US from...wish I did.I have found many of the Bowdre men associated with various legal documents in Columbia Co.
Good luck in your research, I wish I could have helped you.
