Dear Stewart,
I apologize for the delay in answering your post.I'm currently in graduate school so bear with me!Anyway, regarding the connection of your ancestor with my SC Braggs, unfortunately I don't find a Thomas H. Bragg in my files. My first known Bragg is Peter Bragg of Spartanburg SC(died 1869).He had four children. His only son was Wiley.Wiley had four children, two boys, two girls. The boys are Thomas P. (my gggrandfather) and Robert H.
They first appeared in Arkansas in 1880.Thomas P. had a large family, but none of his boys were named Thomas H.I have no information on what happened to Robert H.but I'm pretty sure he left Arkansas and ended up in Texas.
From the research I've done, the Braggs started leaving SC in droves during and after the Civil War.There is a group of them that went to Alabama, and from there some of them did come to Arkansas and settled in Ouachita Co.My group of Braggs first went to Tenn., stayed a few years, then came to Arkansas to Osceola in Mississippi County.
I'm sure you've seen that the Braggs have made it difficult for us to tell them apart by insisting on using the same names every generation! The only thing I can suggest is to check the SC census and start lookingthrough some of the Bragg familes.I would recommend ancestry.com or HeritageQuest.Good luck!
