Thomas was supposedly born in one of the islands round Rappahannock but I don't have the date, nor do I remember the reference since I'm at work now and have no e-mail at home.Nicholas Bragg was one of the Mayflower Bragg's right?I think that would be a separate branch than the Virginia settlement of Bragg's, but more than likely related some way back in England. The names could be similar, as in Thomas, but in Braxton's case, I rather doubt it.There is a Braxton surname and a few counties/cities with that name, but where he got it, I don't know now.Try getting a copy of Braxton Bragg - Confederate General by Don Caros Seitz, published in 1927 (if my memory serves me). That has a bit of info on the tree, but mostly correspondence from and to his generals, wife, etc.
