Hi
Good to find some Brambles out there! Is there any chance that you are related to the Portsmouth Brambles? I'm having an awful time trying to search in the family records centre in London - you'd think it would be computerised by now, but no!
My mother is a Bramble and her father was from Portsmouth. He ran off to sea at a young age then married my grandmother in Edinburgh when they were both still in their teens. He died in his early 40's so my mom is a bit sketchy on the family background.
I know he was born around the turn of the century and was known as Thomas William - however, the only record I could find was for a William Thomas... maybe he liked his middle name better.
Probabl the most easily recognisable feature of the family is that I have triplet uncles, born to one of my grandfather's sisters. I met them once when I was 12 years old, at a Christening party for one of their babies, so they would probably be in their mid to late fifties by now. I think their names were Roy, Michael and Drew. They were born in Portsmouth, possibly at an address in Malthouse Road. Their father was in the navy, and mom thinks that the family name was either Morris or Norris.
Does any of this ring any bells? I'd love to hear from you.
Thanks so much for getting in touch - I don't always have much time to check the forum at the moment!
Linda
