Brand is an infrequent variation of Brawn, Brann, Bran of which there are many in the Gardiner area. I knowof two connections among Brand/Brann'sand Brown 's in Gardiner. One is Sanford N Brann, born 1 Feb 1835married Mary L. Brown. That connection seems too late. The other connection is John Brann of Gardiner , son of Michael Brawn, married Susannah Brown of Helliwell on 14 June 1823. They lived in Gardiner. This John had an Uncle Aaron, who had a daughter Sally, etc.Furthermore, when this John moves to Indiana, he usually spells his name Brand.
Here is my problem: my GG grandfather, George Brand, grew up in John's family, but was born about 1821. So I am unsure of the relatonship between George and John.Could you please look in the journals for any references to John, Susanna aka Anna or George? You could solve a big mystery for me.
Thanks,
Ken Brand
