Re: Sarah Brandon/Brandum - Ohio c. 1855
Pat, I see that you are researching Mary (Fanny) Brandum.Unfortunately, I do not know that name. Here is what I do know, in case it will help:
The William BRANDOM you mention from the 1830 US Census is my ancestor.William was born 10 Oct 1796 in Virginia. He married Nancy BARR in Fairfield County 1819.William was the son of William BRANDOM (Sr.) who died in Fairfield County between 1830 and 1840 as best I can determine.William Sr. can be found in the 1820 US CEnsus for Fairfield County, Berne Twp, with his wife (name unknown) and three children still at home.I have not yet been able to document the children of William Sr., but I have found via Internet that he is said to have had two daughters named Rachael (born about 1792 Virginia, apparently never married) and Nancy (born about 1789 Virginia, married James HARAD or HARROD).
William BRANDOM and Nancy BARR had two daughters - Margaret (b 1822 Berne Twp; m 1842 Oliver P. REAM Fairfield Co; d 1894 Sugar Grove Twp, Fairfield Co) and Sarah Elizabeth (b 1825 Fairfield Co, m 1844 to Jacob E. STRAYER in Fairfield Co, d 1900 Rushcreek Twp, Fairfield CO).There was also a son James Hamilton BRANDOM (born 1828, died 1833).
My line seems to have decided upon the spelling of BRANDOM, but it has also been spelled BRANDON, BRANDUM and BRANNUM.
Your Mary (Fanny) BRANDON/OM might be a cousin to Margaret and Sarah Elizabeth. If I ever run across the name, I will certainly let you know. Thanks for your message.Would love to hear from you again when you find the parents of Mary (Fanny).
