Re: Sampson Bracewell & Miss Moore of Laurens Co., GA
Well unfortunately the person you speak of (I know her as well) and I know she doesn't have her facts straight and possibly she could have been mis-lead by "others".So, since HER line is last proven in NC, you might suggest that she make a personal visit to the LAurens county GA courthouse for information as Laurens County GA is NOT a burned county and has all of it's records in tact.In fact if you surf the SCARBOROUGH genforum you will find that they have already found the LAurens county court records and have Elizabeth daughter of William Scarborough of Laurens co GA accounted for in their line.
Meanwhile in Washington CO GA those are burned records so if and only if her Sampson came to GA and he was at one time in Washington co GA I'm afraid she may not be able to prove that her Sampson in NC and the Washington Co Sampson are the same one from NC other than the the best case scenario is that Sampson SR and JR were not father and son in Washington co GA, but rather much like you and your research team once pointed out in NC, JR and SR don't always mean father and son.You suggested that JAMES Braswell JR was son of RICHARD Braswell in a NC estate where JAMES JR is mentioned as a son to Richard in Richard's Will.I suggest the same in GA.KNOWING that the Sampson BRACEWELL of LAURENS co GA is proven to be the son of RICHARD BRACEWELL married to AGNES PROCTOR (of whom both died in BURKE CO GA) any possible Sampson SR in Washington Co GA would have been BROTHER to the RICHARD Bracewell married to AGNES PROCTOR making the SAMPSON SR in WASHINGTON co GA UNCLE to the Sampson BRACEWELL of Laurens co GA who married Elizabeth SCROBOROUGH.That is the best that GA documentation has to offer YOUR friend in search of her SAMPSON BRASWELL from NC and I think as a possibility it does fit quite well.If you still disagree I suggest a visit the Laurens County GA courthouse to become further acquainted with the LAURENS co GA BRACEWELLS to see for yourself what the documents hold.I would help you and provide that information, but seeing as I provided that information to you LONG TIME ago and you refuse to post the information on your BRASWELL BLOGSPOT because is disputes what you want to believe, then I feel I would be once again wasting my time.In fact instead of me trying to defend the GA BRACEWELL line already proven in records (as many out there already know), why don'tyou prove there was a SAMPSON BRA** married to a MISS MOORE found in GA (anywhere)......perhaps we could work from that end since you brought it up in the first place to try and "change" who Sampson BRACEWELL of Laurens Co GA married.
Meanwhile the LAurens Co Sampson BRACEWELL born about 1760-70 is brother to RICHARD BRACEWELL born about 1766....both of these BRACEWELL brothers married into the SCARBOROUGH family and are very well documented in Laurens co GA.THERE is NO proof of Sampson BRA** of any kind married to a MOORE of any kind in LAurens co GA that you speak of, but if you have proof then I'd be happy to see it.
Thanks again and happy hunting,
