Jean Braun, 90, passed away April 5, 2011, in Westborough, Massachusetts. She was born in Toronto, Canada, to Louise and Chester Latimer and grew up in West Orange, NJ. She attended West Orange High School and Syracuse University before eloping with her high school sweetheart, Harry V. Braun. Jean and Harry were married for 66 years before Harrys death in 2007. Jean and Harry shared a passion for music. Jean was a skilled oboe player and performed for many years in the Livingston, NJ, Community Orchestra. She was a long-time Girl Scout leader in Livingston. After being a Girl Scout troop leader for several years, she then became a leader in the Mariner Girl Scouts, introducing girls to the joys of boating. She was a registered Medical Record Librarian at the Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, NJ, and Director of the Medical Record Department of Geneva Community Hospital in Geneva, IL. On retirement, Jean and Harry moved to Dennis, MA, where they lived until Harrys death in 2007. Jean was active in the community, serving many years in the Cape Cod Hospital Auxiliary. She was also an active member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a philanthropic and educational organization providing opportunities for higher education for women. Jean obtained her amateur radio operators license and was known as N1JCI to the members of the Falmouth Amateur Radio Association. She was an avid knitter, making hand-knitted beanies for newborn infants and beautiful sweaters for her entire family. Jean is lovingly remembered for her devotion to her family. Jean leaves behind two sons, Kenneth and his wife Valerie, of Berlin, MA and David and his wife Kathy of Denville, NJ; and two daughters, Barbara and her husband Myron of Sedona, AZ and Beverly and her husband Sam of Pearl City, HI; five grandchildren, Greta, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Christine and Timothy; and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held by the family at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends make donations in her name to P.E.O. Foundation, 3700 Grand Ave., Des Moines, IA 50312, or to the charity of their choice.
