A Brazelton Reunion

One of the most notable events that has occurred in this county for many years, took place at the beautiful home of Clabe Brazelton, in south Leon, on Thanksgiving day, in which eight Brazelton brothers, their wives, and a number of other relatives participated, namely: Alex Brazelton, aged 67 years, and wife; John Brazelton, aged 61 years, and wife; Jacob Brazelton, aged 59, and wife, all of the above residents of Colorado; Ack Brazelton, aged 57 years, and wife; Clabe Brazelton, aged 55 years, and wife, residents of Decatur County, Iowa; Isaac Brazelton, aged 45 years, and wife, of Hardin County, Oklahoma; Frank Brazelton, aged 45 years, and wife, of Blackwell, Oklahoma; Thomas Brazelton, aged 39 years, and wife, of Mills County, Iowa. And in addition to the above there were present Dr. Francis Bailey, cousin, of Des Moines; Archie Havens and wife, of Decatur, daughter and son-in-law, of Clabe Brazelton; Amos Brazelton and wife, son and daughter-in-law of Ack Brazelton; Will Emmons and wife, a brother-in-law of Clabe Brazelton, residents of Decatur.

What is so remarkable about this meeting is that the oldest Brazelton brother and the one next to the youngest had never met before. Their father, William Brazelton, an Englishman, came to this country in an early day, suffering the hardships of a pioneer life, but as soon as the family was well located and making a good living, the older boys, Alex, John and Jake, went farther west, settling in Colorado, and when the city of Denver, two weeks ago, celebrated its fiftieth anniversary, they could well join in the celebration, having lived near there since its fourth anniversary.

All of these brothers have been truly blessed with not only health, happiness and prosperity, each having amassed quite a fortune, but they are truly gentlemen and the communities in which they live have been made better by their residence, so at their home gathering they were filled with gratefulness and thankfulness. After visiting relatives and friends in this county, they will go to Des Moines to visit relatives and friends.
