Nancy,
I am reluctant to say Catherine was the daughter of Samuel and Charlotte because of her age. In the 1826 Hunter NY tax list, Samuel is listed along with his 3 brothers, Aaron, Abram and Aaron. Sinced they were all old enough to be property owners it is likely they were also parents. The Greene County site also lists the Town of Hunter, Greene County, New York List of Officers in School District No. 8. Aaron is listed as a school officer, and parent of 4 school age children in 1828 and 1829, and parent of 5 in 1830. So it's possible Catherine was either Abraham's or Aaron's daughter. I have 9 children for Peter, so it's unlikely she is his daughter.
One place I'm investigating is the 1826 Hunter tax list. Of the 6 children I have for Samuel, Jane married James Eggleston, who whose father is on the tax list, Sally married Ezra Margison, whose father Martin is also listed, and William married Mary Ingalls whose grandfather, Rufus Benjamin is also listed(Rufus is listed as Augustus S Benjamin. I think the "S" should be "Sr" as he was also known as Rufus Augustus and Augustus R Benjamin.) It's likely other children of Samuel married into families listed on the tax list. There are only 230 households listed in Hunter in 1826. Checking them out should keep me busy this winter!
