Rachel and Benjamin Brice
There used to be a lot of infomation online about the Brice family but I cannot seem to find it now. Benjamine J. Brice Manumited my Davison family in 1852...Marion County, VA.The Manumission is on file at the Marion County Courthouse, Fairmont, WV.The year 1799 and Benjamin J. Brice deeded to Rachel Brice a Black woman named Negro Sal.This document is on file in the Greene County, PA, Courthouse, Waynesburg, PA.Several slaves once owned by Benjamin Brice were not named so we have no idea if they are Family or not.I suspect they are and have been and will keep looking for that information, as well as the identity of Nego Sal.That her event is dated 1799, that puts the Brice Family in Greene County rather early. There is also a Joseph Brice n early Greene County.I am also a Bice and have very little information on my early Bice family here in Greene County, PA.Bice...Brice...and there were Negro Brice in this area also.Benjamin and Rachel Brice died in Marion County and are buried in a small graveyard between Morgantown, WV an Fairmont, WV, if memory serves me.The cemetery is located just beside Rt 19, and information is online.I know the Brice, Wilson and Davisson families are connected by marriage, military service, and business.Benjamin obtained my family from his father and I do not know how he came in possession of them.Since my surname is Davison, most likely the Davisson/Davidson were the orginial owners. Brice, Davisson and wilson lived in Harrison County, VA, bordering Marion Co. for a time and were together in business there if I recall correctly.Online nformation should be plentiful. As for me and my family, the history of our family is interwoven with the history of the Brice, Davisson and Wilson families.Any information on the slaves of these families would be greatly appreciated.Bill Davison
