Interesting information you have here. My great grand father lived in Harcourt street bestwick from 1919 ( before he is listed as living their but the electorol had him serving on the "St George" in the Royal Navy, I assume this because it gives his service number. Anyway he lived at harcourt street until his death in 1945 age 85. I have also got a marriage certificate showing him getting married in 1890 at christ's church macclesfield and his father's name was also John Briggs who was registered as a "Captian". As for my grandfather he lived at Harcourt street until 1928, when he got married to my gran, aeveline elision, she died in oct 1988 and my grandfather died in 1973. Her mother was Elisabeth Elison who was "supposedly killed " bysteam roller, but I cannot find any information to that effect in the local newspapers, though I could try and contact the police to see if they have any records or the births and dealths people. Furthermore my grandfather move to clayton in 1945 to live in seascale avenue until his death, my gran left in 1983 I think. They are both buried in P 42 at phillips park cemetary, Manchester. Funny I was there last Monday.
