William Buckman and Esther Penquite are my ancestors through (oddly enough) both their sons William and Joseph.Your John Buckman who married Ellin Briggs - below is what I have on this John Buckman:
John Buckman, the 3rd child of William and Esther was born, probably in the Newtown area, on the 15th day, 5th month, 1721 per Middletown Monthly Meeting records.
The Wrightstown Monthly Meeting minutes on the 5th day, 6th month, 1746, "Reported that John Buckman hath been guilty of committing fornication with Rebeckah Welsh."This may or may not have been our John Buckman. This is interesting because sometime around 1747 John married Ellin or Elinor Briggs probably at the Wrightstown Monthly Meeting. The above mentioned Rebeckah Welsh married Ellin's brother, Benjamin.
John and Ellin settled in the Wrightstown area as Wrightstown Monthly Meeting records show their children's births from 1748 through 1768.
John's father's will which was proven in 1755 left him only 5 shillings but he had conveyed some land to John on May 25, 1750.
The records of the Falls Monthly Meeting show that John and Elinor brought a certificate from Wrightstown for themselves and 5 children on January 12, 1772.
John, then living in Lower Makefield Township, wrote his will on March 2, 1789.In his will he mentioned Elenor and 7 children.John died on February 27, 1790 and his will was probated on March 6.
