I have Amey as d/o Daniel and Elizabeth (Spencer) Briggs of North Kingston, RI.No relationship to Gov. Briggs that I know of. My husband's grandmother, Lena (Bailey) Sullivan, wrote out a family history many, many years ago which we have. She states that Amey was the daughter of the above.Everthing in the book checks out so until I get some additional proof I'll stick with it. The Bailey family were (2nd church?) Baptists. It seems as if the entire church rose up and moved westward and into NY State between 1750 and 1790.Spencertown, Stephentown, Saratoga.I have tried to decern whether or not this had to do with poor soil in RI or a split in the Baptist Church, perhaps both. The Baileys, Cases and Mattesons were all intertwined while in RI and I think they all moved at about the same time.If I could find where any of them are buried in NYS I would be happy.I have read that Amey's husband George Bailey is buried in Stephentown, NY.I somehow doubt that.Lena says they headed for Saratogo.Until their burials or records of Amey's remarriage can be found, I'll continue the search.I think it will all hinge on where Amey's maternal Spencer family migrated to.Find them and we will find Amey.
