Hello, I only know of a Cornight or Cornite Briggs who did indeed die in 1803 in Catskill, NY. Here is more information:
Cornight was born c1700 in (possibly Cape Cod) Massachusetts and married ? Ward.He came to Westchester County about 1758 and was granted land in the Manor Cortlandt. Later he owned land(375 acres south of Crompound Rd)in Peekskill which was then a village of Cortlandt.
According to http://archive.org/stream/amerimanuscript34greauoft/amerimanuscript34greauoft_djvu.txthttp://archive.org/stream/amerimanuscript34greauoft/amerimanuscript34greauoft_djvu.txt REPORT ON AMERICAN MANUSCRIPTS IN THE ROYAL INSTITUTION OF GREAT BRITAIN. VOL III. — JV1 Cornight Briggs, late of Cortlands Manor, West Chester County. 1782, July 9. New York. — Memorial for some assistance to relieve his distresses. Was forced to leave an ample estate. Has his own family and those of his two daughters to support, his two sons-in-law being killed in the service. Original. Vol. 25, No. 127. 2 pages.
This was an appeal to the British who were evacuating NY at the time. It seems to mean he was a Tory and that his sons-in-laws served in the British forces during the Revolution. Whether the British assisted him in a move to Catskill, NY which at the time had about 10 houses, or he did it himself, I do not know.
His son George was born in 1722 and died in 1796. He lived in Cortlandt and Yorktown. He married Catherine Bloom (c1721-1810)and had sons James and John. John died in 1822. He married Caterina Lent:
