Pam, Helen/Helene Brigance was the daughter of my gr-gr-gr-grandfather James Brigance (ca 1775-ca 1857).A great deal of information is included in Brigance Genealogy, Vol. II, pages 29-85.Unfortunately, I didn't have the information on Helen/Helene at the time I published, but have been able to add several pages on her line to my database the last few years.I would be delighted to exchange information with you. James had at least two marriages, possibly three. It would appear most of the children, including Helen, were apparently by the second marriage. I believe his last marriage was in 1837.From this marriage he left a young wife and family at the time of his death in ca 1857. I had thought the William B. Brigham 1810-1861 may have been a brother of Helen, but it appears he was not.As you may know, there have both Brigances and Brighams in the White Oak Creek area for about 200 years. It is well documented some used the names interchangeably and some made a permenant name change, including one of Helen's half-brother, Lawrence. Contact me through genforum or firstname.lastname@example.org and let me know what information you would be interested in and in what format you would like to exchange. Not being a Brigance descendant, I realize you are probably not interested in the Brigance Genealogy, but might find it to be of interest if there is a copy in your local library.I would be interested as to where you live and how much you know about the White Oak Creek area, a very interesting and beautiful area now mostly in Houston Co.
