1st: I noticed the tie between Thomas Bright and Thomas Mace:From Bright Hollow near the TN-VA line, it isn't far to Hiltons, from which it is just up the road a little piece to get to the Carter Fold at Maces Spring...hmmm... think that there's a tie there?
2nd: The James Roberts reference.Thomas bought the cabin from James Roberts, son of John Roberts.John moved his family to the North Fork of Reedy Creek (now known as Boozy Creek) in 1773.A year later the Shawnee killed the family, except James who was taken prisoner but later was exchanged (see Historic Sites of Sullivan County by Muriel Spoden, pg 17).Also note on the preceding page of that book: Leslie's Mill (wonder where my name came from??;-), and on the page before that the Thomas Fain Plantation (and my g-grandfather was Thomas Fain Bright).
Hmmm... So make sure I follow... Francis was the original Bright (from England to Kent Co, right?) Their son Thomas came with them, and married twice.Did this son have sons named William and Francis? Is James Sr. their brother? How does Elijah fit in?
I'm still not getting the picture quite right, I do believe.I'll sleep on it, see if I can get the pieces to fit any better, and see what's missing that we need.
