Etna Bright, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will Bright, was born one mile northeast of Leon, Decatur County, April 4, 1892, and departed from this life, October 9, 1908, aged 16 years, 6 months and 5 days. She moved with her parents to their present home four miles northwest of Leon seven years ago, where she with her twin sister, Edna, attended school in the home district until her illness.
She leaves her parents, three sisters, three brothers and grandparents with a host of near relatives and friends to mourn her early departure. She was an unusually bright and affectionate girl, loved by her parents, admired by her teachers and respected by her friends. She was especially loved by the members of the family for her willingness to help with the cares and duties of every day life. Thus another tender bud of promise is removed from its earthly home to a paradise of rest. Cut down in the prime of life and called from cares imposed by the world. She now rests from labors free, until the second reward when the family can be reunited and know each other again and be more closely united in the bond of perfect love.
The services at the Shy Cemetery, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock were conducted by Reverend C.A. Coakwell.
