LAURA MAY ADAMS (nee SNOOK) was born at Fairfield, Jefferson County, Iowa, Dec. 23, l869. She was the eldest daughter of DAVID and MARGARET ANN SNOOK. With her parents she came to Decatur County when about three years of age where she has since resided except for brief residence elsewhere.
Sister ADAMS was baptized into the Church of Christ at Grand River about twenty-eight years ago, transferring her membership to Van Wert Church of Christ, February l7, l9l8. She loved God and delighted in his Word and work, always interested in the church and things pertaining to the Kingdom of God. She was loyal in spirit and kept the faith in a very practical way. When the news came that she had passed away it brought sorrow to many hearts for she was known and loved by many. It was on Wednseday, September l2, l923, at the Khler Hospital at Rochester, Minn., that she quietly stepped out of the room of the living into that other room where the feet of the living cannot go, at the age of 53 years, 8 months and l9 days, leaving to mourn their loss, her aged mother and only daughter, VERA SNOOK MCKEE COSTLY, of Oklahoma; four sisters, MRS. ALMA WOOKEY, Grand River, Iowa; MRS. JENNIE BRIGHT, of Denver, Colorado; MRS. JESSIE VANDERPOOL, of Lockridge, Iowa; MRS. MINNIE HAYES, of Isabel, S.D.; and one brother, FOREST SNOOK, of Grand River, Iowa. Besides these she leaves two grandchildren, and many other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church in Grand River, Saturday, September l5th, at 2:45, conducted by B.F. Galloway, Minister of the Church of Christ, Van Wert, assisted by Bro. A.E. Price, of Van Wert and Rev. Williamson of Grand River. Interment in the Grand River Cemetery.
