I have a Tobias Bright in the 1790 Census of Cheraw District, SC - Cheraw was discarded after 1798 as a district name and divided into the following:Marlborough, Chesterfield, and Darlington. I am wondering if my Tobias is kin to Charles Bright. The Brights were from Augusta County, VA - probably Albright, Albrecht,Breit, or Brechts - probably of German origin. There was Tobias Bright in Spartanburg, SC area later on and some in KY with same name. Culvin, Manley (Manley) and Albertus were some of the names connected with the family.Names ending in "us" were often German or Dutch. There was also a Tobitha Stanton in the Brightsville Community - interesting take-off on "Tobias?" One of the Brights married a lady named _____Godwin (Goodone).I noticed that your Drusilla married a Godwin or Goodwin.
Lodowick is also a Welsh name - I know there was a Welsh community in Marlboro County - A friend has Lodowick Matthews as an ancestor from NC.
