==== My Previous Post ====== Let me explain what little I know of my ancestry My father, Harold Morell Bright was born in Henry County Tennessee and grew up around Paris, TN with brothers Jerry Arlton Bright, Eddie Tyson Bright, James Dolphus Bright Jr., James Howard Bright. All but Eddie & Harold are buried in Henry Co. TN.
My grandfather was James Dolphus Bright with brothers June Bright, Hunter Bright and sister Kate that I can remember from conversations. I remember Dad saying the spelling of Dolphus seemed to change back and forth from Adolphus to Dolphus over the generations. Interesting.
Dad told me our family came from around Bear Creek North Carolina. He said he had seen the chimney at the Bear Creek homestead but I can't remember when, possibly in the 50's or 60's.
This is what I remember of my dad talking about the family history...
There was a Bright around Bear Creek (my dad's gf or ggf I believe) that had a grist mill or something like that. He had I think 3 sons. The 3 sons went west. One settled around Henry Co. TN, which was my dad's grandfather I think, and the other two kept going. One was rumored to have stopped just past the Miss. River somewhere, and the other went on to Texas. The names I remember Dad saying were Ed, James, John.
Hopefully this will look familiar to someone. My dad passed before filling in the details on our history.
Please email me directly if you have any info to share... Thanks
