Susan - I have done some lookups on the obit of Chesterfield Bright - the name of the place where he lived and died was THICKETY according to the 1895 US Atlas (free site on the internet). It is in Spartanburg County. It is on the railroad and so was probably a good place to live.No population was given for the town in the 1895 US Atlas.
Maybe that will help someone looking for the maiden name of his wife Louisa - if she came from the same area.
Limestone Springs was not listed as a town in Spartanburg County. However Limestone was listed as in Edgefield County.
in the 1880 US Census: Chesterfield Bright was listed as living at Limestone Springs, Spartanburg, SC. I believe from research that there was a large hotel at Limestone Springs, SC.that was popular thing to do in the late 1800's in various places around the south...even at Lithia Springs, Tallapoosa, GA where my great grandfather built a large hotel - the largest in the south and it was finished in 1886.
