Jesse L. ROBERTSON, 75 years of age, of Beatrice, died at Saint Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln on Friday morning, May 5, 2006. He was born on May 29, 1930, at rural Salem, Neb., and graduated from Falls City High School. He married Mary Jane BRIGHT on July 20, 1952, at Nebraska City. Jesse worked at J.C. Penney and Frontier Homes while in Falls City, and then moved to Beatrice in 1961. He worked for Beach Construction and then for the Beatrice Board of Public Works in the electric department, retiring in 1993. Jesse attended the Beatrice Mennonite Church and was a member of Aerie #531 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, also of Beatrice. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane ROBERTSON of Beatrice; three sons, Tom ROBERTSON and wife Cathy of Lincoln, Tim ROBERTSON and wife Julie of Shenandoah, Iowa, and Steve ROBERTSON and wife Teresa of Beatrice; six grandchildren, Scott and Matt ROBERTSON of Lincoln, Stacie ROBERTSON of Shenandoah, Iowa, Aaron, Kyle and Michelle ROBERTSON of Beatrice; two sisters, Arlene NUSSBAUM of Independence, Mo., and Dolly GARLAND and husband Shelby of Bakersfield, Calif.; one brother, Jim MEINHEIT and wife Lucretia of Applegate, Mich.; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert E. and Hedwig "Hattie" P. (WETZEL) ROBERTSON; and three brothers, Lloyd MEINHEIT, Joe MEINHEIT and Herby ROBERTSON, Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at the Beatrice Mennonite Church, 12th and Summit streets, with Pastor Donavin Diller officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice, Neb. A family prayer service will be at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. A memorial has been established to the Beatrice Mennonite Church with Rob and Rosie Claassen in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home, 19th and Garfield streets, Beatrice, Neb., until 9 p.m. Monday evening, and then on Tuesday at the church one hour preceding the services.
