Hello, Saw your information regarding Tobias Bright and his son Albertus.I am not a Bright descendent but am part of a BRIGHT FAMILY REUNION of descendents of Tobias, Albertus and brother Tobias Bright familythat settled in SW Missouri in the mid 1830's. Albertus and his brother Tobias Bright came to Missouri via Kentucky. There are 2 land deeds in Fayette Co. Kentucky under the name of Albertus Bright dated 1797 and 1817.
I knowAlbertus Bright had sons named Asbury, Jesse and Raleigh (Raughley E) who married into Spilmans that had also settled there.
Asberry (Terissa Evaline) and Raleigh (Lusincis Frances) married Spilman Brides, related to John Spilman and Mary Boucher of Allen County, KY who migrated to what later became known as Lawrence County,MO.in May 1845. The spelling of the surname BRIGHT was somehow changed after relocating to Missouri and was spelled "BRITE" which references a migration pattern change from earlier Bright ancestors.
We are 275 plus family members found living in 36 of the 50 states.Bright/Brite family members intermarried with 11 other families in the area that it is known as the "12 Pioneer Family Reunion of Southwest Lawrence Co. Mo" If you would like to receive more information about Brights and their descendents and other living cousins, please contact me at information given below or respond to this query.
We are always looking to increase our membership and provide more information for locating those lost ancestors. Our 73d Reunion is scheduled for 3d Sunday, September 16, 2007 in Monett City Park at high noon. Our 75th Reunion Anniversary is going to culminate in collection of all family histories of all 12 Pioneer lines and will be held September 20, 2009 again at the Monett City Park Casino building.
