I would like to be able to held you.I probably can give you some information about the line of Caleb Bright, born in NC in 1800.I think that this line goes as follows:
John Bright, born about 1640 in England.Came t0 VA about 1648, perhaps as an indentured servant.Bought land in Lower Norfolk Co., VA, beginning about 1663.He had 3 sons at least, who came down to NC early on.
Henry Bright, Sr., was son of John Bright, born about 1670 in Lower Norfolk Co., VA.Came to Currituck & Pasquotank Co., NC about 1700.
Henry Bright, Jr., third generation, was born before 1700, probably in Lower Norfolk Co., VA.Wife's name was Elizabeth. He had several children in Pasquotank Co., NC.He died in 1749.
Caleb Bright, born before 1749; died in 1780 in Pasquotank Co., NC.He has three children: Caleb, Abbie, and Armstrong.
Caleb Bright, Jr. was the next generation, born March 10, 1800 in Pasquotank Co. or Currituck Co., NC.He married Keziah Bennett October 20, 1825 in Clinton City, Ohio.this person, I presume is your known ancestor.I have no information about his children; maybe you have that and can share that with me.
I also am a descendant of John (1st gen), Henry, Sr. (2nd), but my line goes from there through the son of Henry, Sr., Charles. This family lived and owned plantations for many years in Pasquotank Co., NC.
From the data I have, I think that your ancestor really is from the line I have described above.the fact that Caleb, Jr. married in Ohio, appears to reinforce the fact that he migrated from North Carolina westward, probably following the War of 1812.There was a lot of migration west following the Revolution and the War of 1812.
Please write back!
Can you tell me a little more about his children or other descendants.
