The 1850 McDowell Co. NC Census lists James Bright age 71 with wife Dinah age 75.Also listed within this same household is a John Jr. age 43.I believe this to be the John you are referring to. Also in the 1850 Census is another household listing John Bright Sr. age 60 with wife Lucy age 58.This John who I believe to be my ggg-grandfather would have been born arround 1790.He may have been a brother to James since he was closer to his age. Only eleven years separated them. I show that John and Lucy were married 11 Apr. 1812.He would have been 21 or 22 years old.As I stated before the main reason I believe that this is the correct John is because of what my grandfather told me.Secondly along with John Sr. the 1850 census lists three male children still at home, John 19, Richard 19, and Hillard M. 16.Also listed with them is two females, Mary 34, and Nancy age 12. I believe this same family to be listed in the 1840 Burke Co. NC census. It lists John Sr. with six male children,1 under five, 3 between five and ten, 1 between ten and fifteen, 1 between fifteen and twenty, and 1 between twenty and thirty.John, Richard and Hillard listed above would have been 9, 9, and 6 years old. That leaves 3 male children unaccounted for.My gg-grandfather Adolphus was born 4 Nov 1823.He would have been 17 years old in 1840. I also have other reasons to believe John and Lucy are Adlophus's parents.Adolphus had a son named John and a daughter with a middle name of Lucinda. It is also believed that Adolphus had two sisters who married Hemphills. One of these sisters Elmina or Almina married William Patton Hemphill. They lived in Hickory Couunty, MO.Their first childs name was Lucinda. They also had sons named Joseph Alfred, and James Adolphus.See the connection with the names.
